Suzuki Outboard Motor I DF50A 4-Stroke

The DF50A, which is designed to provide fuel-efficient performance in a lightweight and small package, is the result of Suzuki’s product innovation during the last ten years. With Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control System, this three-cylinder engine—which has a four-valve DOHC design—delivers cutting-edge performance and exceptional fuel efficiency. The Suzuki Troll Mode System is also featured on new DF50A vehicles. At the 2011 Miami Boat Show, Suzuki Marine received the NMMA Innovation Award for the DF50A/DF40A from the Boating Writers of America.

Suzuki’s tried-and-true in-line three-cylinder, twelve-valve engine powers the DF40A and DF50A. With a displacement of 941cm3, this powerful engine boasts a DOHC powerhead—the sole DOHC engine utilized in the 40–50 HP outboard class—with four valves per cylinder, as well as an air intake system tuned for optimal performance in the high rpm range. The experts at Suzuki also prioritized increasing mechanical efficiency when creating this engine. To increase efficiency, every component was examined and rebuilt to minimize mechanical loss. As an illustration, a new oil pump design improves internal oil flow and uses less energy to better lubricate moving parts. Improved fuel efficiency is a result of the engine’s overall mechanical loss being reduced.
